Arkaroola Revisited – the Scenic Route
July 8 - July 13
If your memories of High School geology tell you rocks are boring your teacher wasn’t Ian Plimer. Prof. Plimer will again take a week out of his busy life to take our Club on an educational trip to a unique and ancient part of our planet.
This time we will take the scenic route. Start at Broken Hill on Monday morning, head North to Tibooburra where we will overnight. Tuesday we head to Cameron Corner for the obligatory silly photographs, and then drive the Strezelecki Track to Arkaroola. If the words Strezelecki Track don’t stir your emotions your soul belongs in a cheap and cheerful Corolla.
We will again stay at the excellent resort at Arkaroola for 4 nights, giving Ian 3 full days to take us exploring. The trip officially ends on the Saturday morning, but hey, we are now in the Flinders Ranges, so imagine the mayhem we will get up to.
The trip is in NSW school holidays. Bring your kids and grand kids. The look on kids’ face when their tap on a rock exposes a 500 million year old fossil is priceless.
Camper trailer and dog friendly (Banjo loves company). Contact Richard to book and for accommodation details. Accommodation in Tibooburra could be tight, so we need to book immediately.
