Stargazing in the Warrumbungles
October 1, 2021 - October 4, 2021
Back by popular demand …. an astrophotography-themed trip out to the Warrumbungles National Park – Australia’s first Dark Sky Park. This extended weekend trip coincides with the popular Starfest and Dark Sky Awakens (for Star Wars fans!) festivals, so book early as accommodation is already starting to book up.
It’s a perfect weekend (weather permitting!) to photograph the Milky Way, with just a tad over five hours of viewing time and a near New Moon.
Highlights of the extended weekend will include:
Science in the Pub on Friday night, where you will hear about all things astronomy-related from a panel of scientific experts
Viewing the telescopes on Saturday at the Siding Spring Observatory open day
Plenty of opportunity in the evenings to bring out your telescope and camera to view and photograph the Milky Way
A workshop on how to photograph and post-process astrophotography images
Some off-roading and easy bush walks.
Accommodation will include motel units ($110 per night for two) and powered ($33 per night)/unpowered ($22 per night) campsites.
We ran a similar trip in late 2019 and it was very popular, so if you’re keen to join, don’t delay contacting us to book.
