Hunter Valley Lookouts Trip
June 19, 2021
Update, 19 May, 2021: This trip is now fully booked, but contact John if you would like to be put onto the wait-list.
A day trip exploring spectacular lookouts throughout the Hunter Valley. The trip begins at Cooranbong and over the course of the day you will stop at the Heaton Lookout, with great views over Lake Macquarie towards Newcastle and Stockton beach. Descending the western side of the Watagans and driving through pleasant countryside, skirting the edge of Cessnock and the Pokolbin wine region, you will climb up Broken Back into the Pokolbin State Forest and later in the day head out to spectacular Yellow Rock, with views up the Hunter Valley, and a chance to take a short bushwalk to explore a sandstone cave.
The trip concludes at Wollombi with a drink at snack, but members may choose to stay for dinner at the Wollombi Tavern or overnight in the Cessnock area to enjoy the wineries on Sunday.
Please contact John Bradley if you would like to join the trip, or for further information.
Note: Unfortunately, no pets allowed on this trip due to travel through the State Forests.
